passed away Saturday, June 19, 2010, at her home. She was born May
15, 1943, in Ithaca, N.Y. She was co-owner of Benjamin Automotive.
She was married to John D. Benjamin, who preceded her in death.
She was the daughter of Albert and Ann (Brazo) Taber, both
deceased. She is survived by her daughters, Cindy Rollins of
California and Denise McDermitt of New York; son, Douglas Benjamin
of Portland, Tenn.; sisters, Betty Taylor of Florida and Helen
Willett of New York; brother, Ron Ronsvalle of New York; six
grandchildren, Brenna Benjamin, Anita Martinez, Autumn Benjamin,
Alleana Benjamin, Ian Benjamin and Brian McDermitt. A

Allen Blankinship and Leona (Barkdoll) Blankinship. He is survived
by his his wife, Janeanne Blankinship of Portland; his father,

age 71, of Portland, passed away Thursday, March 11, 2010, at
Sumner Regional Medical Center, Gallatin, Tenn. He was
born October 19, 1938, in Franklin, Ky. He is the son of James C.
and Mae (Dyson) Boren, both deceased. He was married to Arlen
(Burnett) Boren who preceded him in death. He is survived by his
sister, Sue Boren Bullington of Alvanton, Ky.; niece, Nancye
Coles of Bowling Green, Ky.; nephew, Barry Bullington of
Cottontown, Tenn.; step son, Tony Olson of Bowling Green, Ky.; 5
grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and 2 great-great

wife of 67 years, Bonnie (Reecer) Denton.
He retired from Ford Motor Glass. He served in the U.S. Army
in World War II from 1942 - 1946 in the Philippines. He is

84, of Portland, passed away Wednesday, February 24, 2010, at
his home. He was born September 25, 1925, in Lancaster, Tenn. He was
a truck driver for CEMC. He is the son of James and Nellie
(Bennett) Slager, both deceased. He was preceded in death by his
wife, Mildred (Hunter) Slager. He is survived by his daughters,
Sherry (Walter) Sexton of Portland, Susan (Gary) Szpont of
Bon Aqua, Tenn; 4 grandchildren; 3 great-granchildren. Visitations

Center, Madison, Tenn. He was born April 16, 1938, in Waverly,
Tenn. He is the son of Fred and Alien (Stout) Smith, both
deceased. He was a carpenter. He is survived by his sons, Jerry
(Karen) Smith and Fred (Bonnie) Smith, both of Portland, Tenn.; sisters, Ruby
Beacham of McEwen, Tenn., and Mae Smith of Chicago, Ill.;
brothers, Jimmy Smith of Nashville, Tenn., Eugene and Ray Smith,

Red Boiling Springs, Tenn., December 9, 1935. She was the
daughter of Dewel and Sally (McCoin) Denton, both deceased. She
was in retail sales. She is survived by her daughters, Sandi,
Darla Smith of Orlando, Tenn.; son, Charles Patterson of Portland; brothers, Robert Denton, Sr., of Portland, Gordon Denton of
Ft. Wayne, Ind.; 10 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren. Portland

Tenn., passed away Thursday, May 6, 2010, at Westmoreland Care and
Rehabilitation, Westmoreland, Tenn. She was born July 28, 1924, in
Adolphus, Ky. She was the daughter of the late Marvin Oneal and
Idres Gibbs. She was a laborer. She is survived by her step-daughter,
Lisa Whittemore of Portland, Tenn.; step-son, Daniel G. Springer, Jr.,
of Goodlettsville, Tenn.; special grandchildren, Gauage E.
Dillehay of Columbia, Tenn., Elizabeth Dillehay and Jessica

James Wilson Stephens,
age 76, of Portland, passed away Saturday, January 9, 2010, at
Sumner Regional Medical Center, Gallatin, Tenn. He was a member of
the Methodist
church and a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving from 1952 until 1956. He
was an educator for over 40 years. He received a B.S. degree from
M.T.S.U. and a M.Ed. in Administration and Supervision from the
University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Current and past professional
and academic association memberships include: President of the
Tennessee Retired Teachers Association of Sumner Coounty, member
of Sumner County Board of Education, president of the Tennessee
Association of School of Personnel Administrators, member of the
American Association of School Administrators, member of Tennessee
Association of School Boards, and member of the National
Association of School Boards. He is survived by his wife, Sue
(Steuart) Stephens of Portland; daughter, Katherine (Walt)
Sullivan of Franklin, Tenn.; sons, Robert Stephens of Portland,
Mark (Rachel) Stephens of Franklin, Ky.; grandchildren, Nicole
Frazier, H.B. Stephens, Reed Stephens, Christopher Sullivan. He
was preceded in death by his sister, Nancy Broadway of Fayetteville,

age 84, of Portland, passed away Sunday, March 7, 2010, at
Canton Nursing Center, Canton, Tenn. He was born August
17, 1925, in Nashville. He is the son of Robert H.
Walker, Sr., and Annie Lee (Moore) Walker, both deceased. He
retired as foreman at Tru Temper Corp. He was a member of Portland
First Baptist Church. He served in the U.S. Army in W.W. II. He is
survived by his daughters, Gail Walker (Tom) Killian of Parrish,
Fla., and Brenda Walker (Jerry) Ragan of Canton, Ga.; step daughter,
Jacqueline Russell (Tim) Denning of Windermere, Fla.; step sons,
Dennis Ray (Cherry) Russell of Westmoreland, and John Robert
(Jaska) Russell of Portland; sisters, Mary Elizabeth Judkins
and Imogene Dunn, both of Nashville; 4 grandchildren; 7
great-grandchildren; 9 step-grandchildren; 8
step-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was
recently preceded in death by his wife, Laura Mai Walker.

passed away Sunday, May 9, 2010. She was born June 17, 1912,
in Portland. She is survived by her daughter, Linda Napier of
Portland; son, Jimmy (Chris) Woodard of West Palm Beach, Fla.;
grandchildren, Glen, Ronnie, Michael and Jonathan Woodard, Cal
Douglas and Cathy Moore; step grandchildren, Gary, Todd and Troy
Napier; several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren;
nieces, Hazel Jaggers and Susan Groves. She is preceded in death
by her husband, Harve Woodard; parents, Thaddeus Granville Boren
and Melissa Frances Hardin Boren. Visitation is 2 p.m., until 8
