Edward Brawner, Jr., age 83, of Gallatin, passed away on Tuesday, April 24, 2012, at Sumner Regional Medical Center. Funeral services for Mr. Edward Brawner will be conducted Saturday, April 28, 2012, at 1:00 p.m., from Portland Funeral Chapel with Eld. Dean Dyer and Eld. Brent Hall officiating. Interment will follow in Crestview Memory Gardens in Gallatin. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 5 p.m., until 9 p.m., Friday from 2 p.m., until 8 p.m., with a Masonic Service at 7 p.m., and Saturday from 9 a.m. until service time.

Edward was born in Sumner County, Tenn., to the late Edward Celsor Brawner and Lucy Jane Perry on November 11, 1928. He was saved and became a member of Union Hill Missionary Baptist Church in 1945 and retired from TVA after 39 years of service. He was married to Mabel Ford on February 15, 1956. Being a very civic-minded man, he was a member of and served as an officer of several groups. Some of his involvements include: member of King Solomon Masonic Lodge #94 F&AM, 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason, member of the Al Menah Shrine Temple, member of Bethpage #5 OES, Gallatin Sertoma Club, Sumner County Farm Bureau Board of Directors, past president of Sumner County Cattleman's Association, lifetime member of the Sumner County PTA, member of the American Legion Post #17, member of the TVA Retirees Association, and took part in various other civic organizations.

Besides his parents, he is also preceded in death by his brother, Danny Hall Brawner; and sister, Ruby Helen Cannon. His survivors include his wife, Mabel Ford Brawner of Gallatin; son, Ron (Judy) Brawner of Gallatin; daughters, Mary Beth (Jim) Lindsey of Portland and Jean (Dewayne) Pruitt of Lafayette; and grandchildren, Heather (Eli) Allen, Elizabeth Brawner, James and Matt Brawner and Sally Lindsey.

Dewel Layne Bullington, age 78, of Portland, passed away Monday, January 9, 2012, at Kindred Hospital, Nashville. He was born in Macon County on September 23, 1933, to the late Alfred and Cora (Gilliam) Bullington. He worked as a salesman. He is survived by his wife, Jane (Cline) Bullington of Portland; son, Marty (Sandy) Bullington of Portland; daughter, Susan Prater of Oak Island, N.C.; sister, Selma McGuffey of Franklin, Ky.; grandson, Matt Prater of Portland; granddaughters, Kaylee and Marlayna Bullington, both of Portland. He was a private in the U.S. Army. He was a member of Fairfield Masonic Lodge #553 AF&AM. He was a member of Portland VFW. He was a member of the Bluegrass Hall of Honor in Owensboro, Ky. He was a lifetime member of the American Federation of Musicians in Nashville, local 257. He played the fiddle for 50 years with The McCormick Brothers. Willie R. Bullington, age 85, of Portland, passed away Tuesday, January 24, 2012, at Sumner Regional Medical Center. She was born December 14, 1926, in Siloam, Tenn., to the late William Rice Bentle, Jr., and Bangie Nell (Harrison) Bentle. She was a housewife. She is survived by her son, Grady (Karen) Bullington of Portland; daughters, Anita and Patricia Bullington, both of Portland; sister-in-law, Betty Sue Bentle of Westmoreland, Tenn.; nine grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren. She is preceeded in death by her husband, Alphis Bullington; brother, Cleamon Bentle; sisters, Mamie Hammock, Neva Meador, Tommie Brown. Ruby Nell Butt, age 83, of Portland, passed away at her residence on Tuesday, March 6, 2012. She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert S. Butt; son, Frank H. Butt; parents, Nathan Foster Reed and Mattie Nola (Baker) Reed; sister, Robbie King. She is survived by her sons, Stan (Sheila) Butt of Columbia, Tenn., Robert (Kathy) F. Butt of Portland, Joe (Debbie) K. Butt of Cleveland, Tenn., Jerry A. Butt of Cottontown; eight grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren. Mary Evelyn Dixon, age 65, of Springfield, Tenn., passed away Wednesday, February 29, 2012, at Northcrest Hospital in Springfield. She was born October 5, 1946, in Portland.  She is survived by her daughters, Sandra Lynn (Frankie) Jones, Pamela (Michael) Keen, Brenda (Johnny) McCloud, and Elaine (Carl) Brewer, all of Portland; son, Curtis (Vivian) Jones of Portland; sister, Jean Spain of Springfield; brothers, Roy Dale Dixon of Gallatin, James Robertson of Portland; 16 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren. William Donnestad, Jr., age 54, of Portland, passed away Tuesday, April 24, 2012, at his home. He was born May 17, 1957, in Wrightstown, Md., to William Donnestad, Sr., deceased, and Loretta (Culbreath) Anderson. He was of the Baptist faith, and he was employed by the City of Portland water department for the last 11 years. He is survived by his wife, Kathy (Scruggs) Donnestad; mother, Loretta (Glenn) Anderson of Portland; daughter, Bobbye Jo Broner of Portland; son, Michael Allen Donnestad of Portland; sister, Joyce (Donnie) Spain of Springfield, Tenn.; brother, Michael Scott (Lynn) Donnestad of Westmoreland, Tenn. He is preceded in death by his father, William "Bill" Donnestad, Sr.; sisters, Patricia Ann Donnestad and Barbara Donnestad-Craig. John Hale, age 89, of Portland, passed away Sunday, January 29, 2012, at his residence. He was born November 13, 1922, in White House, to the late Thaxton T. Hale, Sr., and Beatie (Johnson) Hale. He was a truck driver. He is survived by his daughters, Sharon (Jim) Webster of Portland, Diane (George) Rodgers of Hendersonville, Linda Hale Ladd of Portland; brother, George Earl (Carol Jean) Hale of White House; sisters, Janice (Fred) Shrum of Gallatin, Martha Hale Paul of Nashville, Sue Hale Anderson and Mildred Hale Hibdon, both of White House; seven grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, 14 great great grandchildren. Lashaun Rae Lovejoy Huff, age 3, of Crystal Beach, Tex., passed away Thursday, February 9, 2012, in Crystal Beach.  He was born October 10, 2008, in Gallatin, to Ashley Huff and Gorunitisa Smith. Along with his parents, he is survived by his grandfather, Henry A. Smith; great grandparents, Donald and Diana Caudill; brothers, Komar and Damarion Smith; sister, Ryleigh Jenkins; secondary family, Amanda (Nana) Marsh, Robert (Paw Paw) Marsh; several aunts, uncles and cousins. Dorothy Mae Lowder, age 98, of Portland, passed away Friday, March 23, 2012, at Sumner Regional Medical Center.  She is the daughter of Stephen Case and Emily Mae (Foote) Case, both deceased.  She was a retired nurse.  She is survived by her daughter, Judith Lowder of Portland; sister, Betty Crutcher of Portland; brothers, William Case of Portland and Gerald Case of Yakama, Wash.  Friend are invited to call at Portland Funeral Chapel from 2 p.m., until 4 p.m., Wednesday.  Funeral service is 4 p.m., Wednesday, March 28, 2012, at Portland Funeral Chapel with Pastor John Watkins officiating.  Private interment follows.
Ronnie Key, age 45, of Westmoreland, passed away Thursday, April 12, 2012, at Sumner Regional Medical Center. He was born November 13, 1966, in Portland, to Lonnie Key, deceased, and Esther (Rippy) Key. He worked in construction. He is survived by his mother, Esther Key of Westmoreland; daughter, Samantha Belote of Westmoreland; stepsons, Will Belote of Gallatin, Josh Belote of Adolphus, Ky.; sister, Tammy Parker of Westmoreland; brother, Donnie Key of Westmoreland; grandchild, Jaden Belote. Adelaide Wanda King, age 65, of Cleveland, Tenn., passed away Friday, April 6, 2012, at her home. She was born March 19, 1947, in Louisville, Ky., to the late Harry Kenneth and Lois (Jones) King. She was a member of Seventh Day Adventist Church. She is survived by her daughters, Sandra (Rolando) Amuedo of Manassas, Va., Tonya (Ted) Ameredes of Cleveland, Tenn., Renee (Gabriel) Owins of Portland; sons, Terrence Faith of Portland, Michael (Edwina) Faith of Smith Grove, Ky., Bobby Barnes III of Portland; brothers, Jack King and Howard King, both of Louisville, Ky.; sister, Virginia Pfund of Louisville, Ky.; grandchildren: Amanda, Lauren and Zachary Kennedy, Joanna Simmons, Tyler and Alicia Faith, Erika Amuedo; great granchild, Malachi Simmons. Patsy Jane Morris, age 64, of Portland, passed away Saturday, January 7, 2012, at Sumner Regional Medical. She was born in Portland on December 14, 1947, to the late Jeff and Marie (Houdyshelt) George. She was employed as a secretary at Lifeway Christian Services. She is survived by her sisters, Glenda McBride of Portland, Beth George of Gallatin; nieces, Tonya Barnes and Sonya Petitt, both of Portland; great nieces, Melanie Petitt, Lauren Barnes, Summer Petitt, Hannah Barnes, Calli Petitt. Thomas Harold Michael O'Hara, age 68, of Antioch, Tenn., passed away Saturday, March 17, 2012, at his residence. He was born in New York, N.Y., on June 26, 1943, to the late Thomas Michael and Marguerite (Kurth) O'Hara. He worked as a broker at Realty Association. He is survived by his wife, Toni (Rogers) O'Hara of Antioch; daughters, Kelly (Walter) O'Hara-Demonbreun of Cain Ridge, Tenn., Shannon O'Hara of Antioch, Jennifir (David) McGillis of Manhattan, Kans.; grandchildren, Michael and Christina Demonbreun, Jessica Reeves, Chase, Jordan and Savannah McGillis; great-grandchildren, Ivy and Lauchlin McGillis. James William Ray, age 58, of Cottontown, passed away Wednesday, January 25, 2012, in Nashville.  He was born October 27, 1953, in Portland, to Earl C. (Doc) Ray and Cassie Ethelene (Wheeler) Ray.  He was the owner of J. and L. Norman Brown Smith, age 78, of Portland, passed away Monday, January 23, 2012, at his residence. He was born September 18, 1933, in Big Sandy, Tenn., to the late Noah and Clara (Christopher) Smith. He was a mechanic. He is survived by his sons, Rickey (Carol) Smith and Chris (Connie) Smith, both of Portland; brother, Robert Smith of Portland; brother-in-law, Melvin Minnis of Portland; sisters-in-law, Nadine and Shirley Minnis, both of Portland; grandchildren, Adam Porter, Wesley Smith, Andrew Smith, Trevor Smith; great grandchild, Mason Smith. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean war. Visitation is 12:00 noon until 9:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 24, 2012, and after 8:30 a.m., Wednesday. Barbara Ann West, age 73, of Franklin, Ky., passed away Thursday, March 29, 2012, at Rosewood Healthcare Center in Bowling Green, Ky.   She is the wife of Pete West, deceased; and the daughter of Ernest and Sarah (Carter) Shirrell, both deceased.   She is survived by her sons, Terry (Theresa) Fisher and Richard Perdue, both of Portland, and David Perdue of Hendersonville, N.C.; daughter, Lorri Perdue (Ronnie) Fisher of Humble, Tex.; sister, Alice Hagy of Bristol, Va.; 10 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.  Visitation is 6 p.m., until 9 p.m., Saturday, March 31, 2012, and after 9 a.m., Sunday.  Funeral service is 2 p.m., Sunday, April 1, 2012, at Portland Funeral Chapel with Bro. Tony Brown officiating.  Interment is at Restlawn Memory Gardens, Franklin, Ky.  Donations in Mrs. West's memory may be made to the Sarah Cannon Cancer Center, 2300 Patterson St., Nashville TN 37203 or to the Cancer Center of Bowling Green, 1801 Ashley Cir., Bowling Green KY 42104.   Mrs. West was a good and faithful Christian woman.
Buddy Allen West, age 75, of Portland, passed away Wednesday, March 7, 2012, at his residence. He is the son of Paul Applin West and Emma Maurine (Wiseman) West, both deceased. He is survived by his wife, Carolyn (Gray) West of Portland; daughter, Tracy (Keith) Kizer of Portland; grandsons, Lee Allen and Wesley Keith Kizer, both of Portland; brothers, Billy H. West and Bobby J. West, both of Portland; step sister, Janie Whisler of Cottontown; step brother, Charles Link of Madison, Tenn.; niece, Anita West Eade; great neice and great nephew, Keeton and Logan Eade.

Mr. West was a business owner from 1962 to 1966, he worked for and retired from United Parcel Service and he served in the U.S. Air Force.  He was elected to the Portland City Council in 1995, was a member of the Junior Chamber of Commerce and the Lions Club.  He was a Little League Baseball coach and Boy Scout Leader of Troup 124.

Patricia Faye White, age 70, of Portland, passed away Friday, January 20, 2012, at Alive Hospice in Nashville. She is the daughter of Harold L. Pryor, deceased, and Frances Lucille (Webb) Pryor of Gallatin, Tenn. She worked as a clerk at Portland Middle School. She is preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Joe White. She is survived by her mother, Frances Pryor; sons, Ralph (Meredith) White of Portland, Randall (Dawn) White of Lewisburg, Tenn.; grandchildren, Tyler (Gretchen) White of Gallatin, Austin, Drake and Kinsey White, all of Portland.
