| James D. Boren,
age 71, of Portland, TN, passed away Thursday, March 11, 2010, at
Sumner Regional Medical Center, Gallatin, Sumner, TN. He was born
October 19, 1938 in Franklin, Simpson, KY. He is the son of James
C. and Mae (Dyson) Boren, both deceased. He was married to Arlen
(Burnett) Boren who preceded him in death. He is survived by his
sister, Sue Boren Bullington of Alvanton, KY; niece, Nancye Coles
of Bowling Green, KY; nephew, Barry Bullington of Cottontown, TN;
step son, Tony Olson of Bowling Green, KY; 5 grandchildren, 9
great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. Preceded in
death by step son, Floyd Olson. Visitations are 2:30 p.m. to 8:00
p.m., Saturday, March 13, 2010, Sunday, 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.,
and Monday after 8:00 a.m. at Portland Funeral Chapel.
Religious service is at 12:00 noon on Monday, March15, 2010 at
Portland Funeral Chapel. Internment is at Restlawn Memory
Gardens, Franklin, KY. |

Walker, age 84, of Portland, TN, passed away Sunday,
March 7, 2010, at Canton Nursing Center, Canton, Cherokee, TN. He
was born August 17, 1925 in Nashville, Davidson, TN. He is the son
of Robert H. Walker, Sr. and Annie Lee (Moore) Walker, both
deceased. He retired as foreman at Tru Temper Corp. He was a
member of Portland First Baptist Church. He served in the U.S.
Army in W.W. II. He is survived by his daughters, Gail Walker
(Tom) Killian of Parrish, FL and Brenda Walker (Jerry) Ragan of
Canton, GA; step daughter, Jacqueline Russell (Tim) Denning of
Windermere, FL; step sons, Dennis Ray (Cherry) Russell of
Westmoreland, TN and John Robert (Jaska) Russell of Portland, TN;
sisters, Mary Elizabeth Judkins and Imogene Dunn, both of
Nashville, TN; 4 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, 9
step-grandchildren, 8 step-great-grandchildren; several nieces and
nephews. He was recently preceded in death by his wife, Laura Mai
Walker. Visitations are Wednesday, March 10, 2010, from 10:00 a.m.
to 2:00 p.m. and again at 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Portland
Funeral Chapel. A graveside service will be held at Woodlawn
Cemetery, Nashville, TN, at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 11, 2010
with Reverend Tim York officiating. Soloist will be Sue Smith.
Military Honors will be conducted at the cemetery. Internment is
at Woodlawn Cemetery, 660 Thompson Lane, Nashville, TN. |
